The Philippines used to have a few cases of HIV/AIDs patients but now, it has been increasing. In the year 2006 around 2600 patients were diagnosed of the disease. The following year (2007) around 3300 has been documented to have it.
Our professor who is doctor specializing on infectious diseases mentioned in the lecture today that they (him and probably other infectious diseases experts) observed a trend of HIV/AIDs in the Philippines... most of them are working as call center agents... There is no formal paper on this yet, but they observed the frequency is high in these group of people.
As to why? We don't know... facts are: there is increased homosexual relationships and anal-receptive sex (another means of contracting the disease.... this is aside from the heterosexual sexual contacts). And what? their lifestyle? I don't know how to correlate this with their work.. because they have graveyard shifts? and so???

HIV infection (human immunodeficiency virus) infection vs AIDs? HIV infection is simply being positive with the virus. AIDs is infection with the virus + immunosuppression (laboratory assessment of less than 200/microliter CD4+T cells in the body <-- indicator of the body's immune system).
